If you're looking to improve your purchasing skills, stay on top of the rapidly changing field of public purchasing and advance your career and your importance to your organization, joining CAGP could be one of the best things you ever do.
Our primary mission is to improve the knowledge, skills and abilities of our members, a unique group of professionals who all share a passion for advancing and promoting professionalism in the world of government procurement and materials management.
Each year, CAGP hosts conferences in the spring and summer that offer a multitude of opportunities for professional development and career-related education. During these conferences, a variety of speakers with backgrounds relating to the professional needs and interests of our members, present information on topics related to the field of public procurement. Networking opportunities abound at these conferences which draw public purchasing professionals from throughout North and South Carolina.
In addition, other courses are offered to members throughout the year at the Institute of Government at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill.
Member Networking
CAGP encourages members to share information and assist other governmental purchasing professionals. All members may access an online directory of the membership with phone numbers and e-mail addresses. We also offer a free subscription-based List Serve, affording members the ability to communicate efficiently.
CLGPO Certification
CAGP administers the Certified Local Government Purchasing Officer certification, a voluntary program available to our members. Certification is based upon experience, attending core courses and earning certification points by attending other professional development courses and conferences. A certification exam is offered once a year through the Institute of Government at UNC, Chapel Hill.
